What We Believe
The Orchard is a Bible-based church. We're Bible-based in that we seek to base all of our beliefs and our lifestyle on explicit passages of the Bible or on biblical principles. Based on Scripture, we believe the following...
About the Bible
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
About God
There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man (Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16).
About Sin and Salvation
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).
About the Gospel
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection) (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4).
About the Future
Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11 15).
Spiritual Life
Bible Studies
"The word of God is living and powerful" (Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is the living Word of God, and as such it has power to transform our lives and impart new spiritual life. For the Bible to make this impact upon us, we must believe and obey its message. To do so, we must first understand its message. (Understanding God's Word, David Bernard, World Aflame Press, 2005)
Everyone needs an opportunity to discover what the Bible says. That's why we believe personal home Bible Studies are a priority. We would love to share a Biblical-survey study called, Exploring God's Word, with you. This study outlines the stories and principles of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Exploring God's Word highlights the powerful and meaningful relationship between the Old and New testaments. Studying the word of God in a one-on-one setting allows you to ask questions and move at your own pace. God's word is life-changing and you will be excited by its richness and relevance.
Home Friendship Groups
"A casual environment where you can grow in relationship with God and build lasting friendships"
Have you ever felt lonely in a crowd? That's how some people have felt entering a church and sitting on a pew, surrounded by strangers. They were greeted warmly at the door, the service was beautiful, the music was inspiring, and the preacher delivered a message that touched them deeply, but they couldn't help wanting a more personal connection - to be ministered to directly, by people who know them and really care about them.
That's why we developed small groups. A small number (3 -12) of people meet weekly from house to house for friendship, encouragement, Bible study, prayer, discussion, service opportunities and fun. Food and refreshments are provided. Children are cared for and actively participate in their own small group.
Prayer
The kingdom of God is centered on relationships and our love for one another. We enjoy informal get-togethers at each other's homes. We also host more structured events like our recent "Backyard Harvest Fest." We desire to grow in our relationship with one another as we grow in our relationship with Jesus. Please check out our up-coming events for information about our next get-together.
